My students haven't learned to read using traditional methods in their classrooms, and they are often a few grade levels behind. My hopes are that a sensory approach will help them succeed, and fill in the gaps in their learning. They attend reading lab every day for 30 to 45 minutes and I use creative approaches that tap into their multiple intelligences to help them grasp the concept of reading. The multisensory sand trays will help my students use a tactile approach to help them with both letter formation and letter sounds to learn the letters that they do not know.
