The concepts of circuitry and conservation are presented in the context of engineering applications pertinent to our everyday lives. Other aspects of energy are explored, including energy consumption and conservation, batteries, simple circuits, conduction and insulation, polarization, power grid and blackouts. The MaKey MaKey lets curious kids turn just about anything into a functioning computer interface - so long as that material is conductive. Snap circuits also teach about electric conductivity, efficiency, and conservation. Using the MaKey MaKey, students transform any everyday object into a computer keyboard, game controller, musical instrument or anything else they can dream up! The MaKey MaKey takes advantage of the natural electrical conductivity that exists in many materials (including the human body). It only needs a tiny bit of conductivity to work – even the conductivity of pencil graphite on paper can be used to make a working controller that is literally drawn onto the page as kids complete the circuit with the natural conductivity that flows through their bodies! These concepts are presented in the context of engineering applications pertinent to our everyday lives.
