My students work in educational centers while I work with reading groups at my table. There are 5 centers in the room that the students work independently on previous taught lessons. The center that I would like to update is my Library Center with Chromebooks. The Chromebooks would allow students to listen to books being read to them through a computer program called Myon. By listening to the books being read to them the students will hear a fluent reader twice as many times a day than before. They will hear me read a book to them fluently twice a day and when they are in their center they will hear 2 to 3 books read to them fluently. After the students have listened to a book being read to them then they take a comprehension test through another program called AR Reader. This program manages the books they have read, are they comprehending and gives them points for the correct answers. Our Librarian tallies their points each month and they are able to purchase items with their points they have earned. The students LOVE the library center and I would LOVE to update this for them. In the majority of schools across the USA students have their own classroom Chromebook or iPad but we are in a poverty area and I have 4 desktop for my entire classroom.
