My classroom is a place that encourages growth mindset in mathematics. I want to demonstrate to students that math can be fun! Utilizing room transformations will help engage students during rigorous learning when they have to use critical thinking and problem solving strategies. Transforming my classroom will help it become a place where students can develop an inquiry relationship with mathematics and approach math with curiosity, courage, confidence, and intuition. The requested materials will allow me to transform my room into fun, real world situations. Some of the planned room transformations include: doctor's clinic, vet clinic, construction zone, baker's kitchen, glow party (glow in confidence) and mission impossible. Students will be able to apply their learning in an engaging way that will build their mathematical confidence, growth mindset, and collaborative skills. The best thing is that many of these materials can be used for different room transformations for years to come!
