This year, in order to create a love for reading in my students, I chose to do a novel study on Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone. This was the book that really changed it all for myself in elementary school, and knowing how unmotivated my students were to read, I wanted to introduce them to a story that just captured children this age for years! Many of my students have reading disabilities, and as a result they often shut down when it comes time to read. This story has not only pulled them back into reading for fun, but they have also made significant progress in their IEP reading goals! I would love to continue to fuel their love for this character, and gift them with their own personal book of the Harry Potter. I particularly want to gift them the second book in the series, The Chamber of Secrets, so that they can continue to follow Harry's journey.
