I am seeking ukuleles for my students so that they can experience new music and be able to master a new instrument. We are a HOT (Higher Order Thinking) School and one of the strategies we use are ECHOS (Enhanced Curricula HOT Opportunities) which are "designated time blocks which engage the whole school in active learning. ECHOS engage students in real world learning experiences in which students apply advanced content and methods to develop products and services that have an impact on intended audiences. ECHOS are student-driven and they facilitate higher order thinking by providing students with opportunities to apply their interests, knowledge, thinking skills, and creative ideas to self-selected problems or areas of study."* I am looking to create a ukulele ECHO where students will learn how to play the ukulele as well as the culture and history behind the instrument. With time and practice, students will be able to master a variety of chords and strumming patterns to play along with their favorite songs. My goal with this ECHO is to inspire students to learn to play outside of school as well as to eliminate the intimidation of starting a new instrument. *Taken from the HOT School Website
