My students are all minority kids: African American, Afro Caribbean, Latino, Asian. They are urban young men and women with hopes and dreams for a better life. Many of them are facing issues that teens should not be dealing with at their age, diminishing at too fast a rate, their precious innocence. And yet they remain resilient, resonant with hope. They want to succeed; they want to be challenged intellectually and academically. They want to participate in culturally relevant and responsive learning experiences that inform their education with out of school experiences. My hope is that this project will contribute to their growth as students and citizens in this city and this nation.

About my class
