This project has a direct impact in my classroom. The students build many skills from story time. Story time is their favorite time of the day. During this time, they learn new vocabulary, both through visual and written cues. Students engage in questions and answers and with support from staff, the students can participate in conversations with their peers. My students are very young and lack communication skills so they need to work on building their vocabulary, which is done through pictures and props, and words. Stories are selected from all genres. Various activities are prepared as a follow up to the stories themes. Props and artifacts are used to keep the students engaged and the students love them. As a follow up to the stories, the students participate in story retell, 1:1 correlation, object identification, matching items from the stories. Having folder games will help the students to work independently to reinforce their learning in a fun and enjoyable way.
