These supplies are for an integrated math, science, language arts unit. My students have shown an interest in dinosaurs. With this units we will study dinosaurs through several children's books. Students will work collaboratively in small groups with the K'NEX to construct models of dinosaurs. They will be using math concepts and exploring kines, shapes, angles, and patterns. This unit will be done collaboratively with the special education teacher. We will be co-teaching and all activites will appeal to all educational levels in the classroom. The gifted students will be designing line graphs and data plots with the K'NEX to display the information they learned about dinosaurs. The lower students will construct a six sided die with a different dinosaur on each to do a pattern and probability lesson. Some students will be designing a battery powered moving dinosaur which they will have to figure out how to code and design the machine. All students will be excavating the dinosaur eggs in science class and exploring the scientific process of gathering information. We will create sensory stations as well with the toy dinosaurs by making frozen dinosaur eggs and salt dough fossil imprints.
