5th grade students are turning into middle schoolers before my eyes. As they become more independent, I need my classroom to reflect these changes. I am asking for help as I work to implement different seating choices to meet the needs of all my students. Your donation will help me to continue to make my classroom the best environment for students with varied learning styles.
Flexible seating will give my students the chance to begin making choices about how they learn best. I know from personal experience that I like to have a stand-up desk. This made me more aware of my students and how they would like to work. As I begin to implement flexible seating, I am going to begin with things that wobble.
I plan to have one table dedicated to the three requested wobble stools so students can move as they work. These students will work at regular height tables without the rigidity of a typical plastic chair. Another table will be on the floor with the five inflatable discs. There are many students who prefer to work while sitting on the floor, but this is not the most comfortable option. Giving them a disc to wobble on will definitely make them more comfortable.
