My overall goal as a teacher is to be able to present scientific information in a way that is easy to understand. I strive to make Biology relevant and interesting so that students feel they are learning something of value. In my classroom, it's not about learning the facts or the definitions. We spend a great deal of energy focusing on fundamental skills that improve their ability to understand and interpret information by breaking down words, theories, and data. We focus on critical thinking and application of knowledge and the ability to form opinions and make conclusions. We focus on communication of our ideas and allow for opportunities of discussion. While education funding seems to be at an all time low, I have high expectations for my students and will continue to do everything in my power to push them to achieve their very best. Hopefully through Donors Choose, funding will help us achieve our goals.
