The cornerstone of every good science class is the demonstration. Everybody can relate to the struggle of being able to visualize a principle in science that they read in a book or a teacher talked about. Sure videos can help us but, for some reason, we are better able to grasp difficult concepts when we can see them first hand. To a student, demonstrations with liquid nitrogen are not only educational but extremely fun as well. As of now, I do not have a practical way of demonstrating the complex science that accompanies extreme cold. Being able to perform demonstrations using liquid nitrogen would allow me to bridge the large gap in my students understanding of how the world works. Having a liquid nitrogen container will allow me to perform demonstrations that will stay with my students for the rest of their lives. From my 7th graders learning about how extreme temperatures affect materials to my 12th graders learning about superconducting wires every student will benefit. Not only would I be able to perform "cool" demonstrations to my students, but I would also be able to perform demonstrations in other science classrooms as well. This means that every single student at the school would be able to benefit from this project.
