My students need the Osmo Genius Kits in our classroom to increase their learning of STEM concepts through technology. Osmo is an iPad game that allows students to play math and literacy games that get progressively harder depending on how they answer the questions. Students must work collaboratively to get the answers right and move on, and they really enjoy being problem solvers! The Osmo Genius Kit comes with different games such as Numbers, Tangram, Words, and Masterpiece. The Numbers game will allow my students to practice multiple math skills through fun interactive games. Words will allow each child to practice word building by using letter tiles. Masterpiece allows students to draw their own pictures. Masterpiece would give my students the chance to draw their own math problems or to illustrate vocabulary words. My students in my class will benefit greatly from visual and kinesthetic learning. To the students, its almost like a magic trick because the Osmo can "see" what they are placing in front of their iPad. This is one of the many features of the Osmo that helps keep the students fully engaged. Students learn the best through manipulation, and it is my goal to have more STEM opportunities provided in my classroom to my students. With these materials, my students would truly benefit from this unique chance to practice math and reading skills, while also learning about STEM concepts.
