I am requesting these materials for students to use every day in both independent and teacher-led instructional blocks. The counting mats and clay will allow for independent and teacher-led practice of early counting skills, as well as fine motor practice. The building manipulatives provide engaging and enjoyable opportunities for following instructions, copying models, fine motor strengthening, and play skills. These materials will allow my students to practice performing daily tasks to prepare for active community participation as adults. Independence in daily tasks is critical to their accessing a fulfilling job and role in their local community. Even as adults, my students will require daily support from professionals in order to manage their care. The more practice and independent work and leisure skills I can provide them with, the higher their quality of life will be as adults. Please help me prepare them for happiness and success!
