These lab tools will give my students the opportunity to use equipment that they have not previously used and continue to develop measurement skills needed in science and everyday life. In this project, students will learn and use DNA lab techniques to discover their distant ancestors. Through the fusion of Science and Art, students will be encouraged to collaborate and create their own representation of a phylogenetic tree with data from their culturally diverse classmates. The opportunity to incorporate art in science, gives each student the opportunity to build reading fluency. Also, integrating art into science gives English Language Learners the ability to apply and demonstrate their science knowledge in creative and innovative forms.
