The students in my classroom all learn in different ways. What works for one student may not work for another and what is comfortable for one, could be extremely distracting to a second. Giving my students various seating options will allow them to learn in an environment that is comfortable and exciting for them. When my students are comfortable in their setting, they pay better attention to not only me, but also to the work that they are trying to accomplish. With the few flexible seating options I currently have, I have seen improvement not only in their quality of work but also in their behavior. They are happier kids who get along so much better and are excited to learn. Having a variety of seating options for the students to choose from allows them to take ownership in how and where in the classroom they learn. Adding wobble stools into their flexible seating options will allow them to have the sensation of moving without distracting others around them. Soft cushion seating options will allow students to work comfortably in an area of the classroom that is best for them to learn independently.
