This project is important to the collaboration, creativity, and problem solving skills we want to develop in our students. Group tables allow students to develop and enhance their social skills of communication and working effectively in groups; a life skill necessary to be successful in school and in life. In an early childhood environment students social and emotional needs must to be met in order for students to excel in their academics. With our kinesthetic learners, gears, Legos, Playdoh, and K'nex students will get to stretch their imaginations through hands-on exploration. With these items in our classroom, students will also have the opportunity test their engineering skills in a "play" environment. Students develop these skills through play, but can then transfer and apply these skills to academics as they grow as scholars. Manipulatives that allow students to be creative, take risks, and explore are crucial for young learners to grow.
