My students took a great challenge and risk by taking grade 12 AP Literature and Composition, and I have to meet their challenge by supplying them with challenging reading material. Without these books, Their Eyes Were Watching God, we will simply have to use what is available in the book room. These students deserve new and inspiring books. These students have many limits placed on them through no fault of their own as over 80% of my students are on free or reduced meals. They should be limitless in their pursuit of knowledge. It will be quite a moment when they get to be the first ones to open the books and put their names on the inside cover. Knowing that these books were selected specifically for them will give them a sense of empowerment and importance.
