For the students of my school, I will be opening a clothes closet where all students will be able to shop for affordable attire that was donated from the community, teachers, graduates, etc. Feeling confident about adequate and clean clothing is important to every person. For convenience and accessibility, especially for those students who lack transportation to otherwise shop, the clothing closet will be housed within our school! Whether it be a trip to score a pair of sandals to match a new dress, seek to replace tattered undergarments and socks, or replenish an outgrown or threadbare wardrobe, the store will benefit each of the students who visit. Students who have financial hardships will be eligible to shop for foundation attire, clothing, shoes, and hygienic products with NO associated costs. An adequately clothed and clean student is better prepared to learn. In two recent studies, a direct correlation was determined among attendance and clean clothes. Therefore, imagine the impact adequate clothing would make on both only attendance but on academic accomplishments. My interactions with students visiting the store would enable me to detect their needs. With the foundational garments and hygienic items funded by DonorChoose, and the clothing and shoes obtain from the clothes closet, should the need be present, our school does have washers and dryers that students could use to regularly wash their new treasures. Students in our school's alternative diploma class will learn and practice business skills as they assist in managing the store. existing service-oriented clubs will assist in gathering shoes, clothing, book bags, etc., as well as organizing the goods. Those who give time, care for their community, and goods will be as equally rewarded as those who receive these human compassions.
