Students will use both fiction and non-fiction texts to study rhetorical devices in action, and examine how persuasive language can be used to shape and change the world around them. These texts will enable students to discuss the way others should be treated, and how individuals can take action to ensure that society addresses the needs of all its members. Students will use these texts to study the words of such inspirational leaders as Winston Churchill, Mohandas Gandhi, Martin Luther King, and Elie Wiesel. As developing leaders, themselves, my students will find inspiration and much food for thought in these important works.
