My goal is for my future authors to feel confident and successful in their writing abilities. I would like for their writing process to go beyond me giving directions and explaining the type of writing I would like them to produce. In order for them to be successful authors they must be exposed not only to my directions, but to various examples of text. Having (mentor texts) book such as "I Wanna Iguana," "Lilly's Purple Plastic Purse," "Seed Soil Sun" and Over in the Garden will allow students the opportunity to relate to the voice and content found in these text. The more exposure students receive through these texts, the more it will inspire their personal writing.
