My journalism students need excellent professional examples of nonfiction writing to use as models for their own writing. Our current textbook was published in 2001 and offers very little of that. Plus, since most of my students have taken my class in the past, they've seen those examples. I've used a few chapters of this book in the past but making copies of the whole book is out of the question. "On Writing Well" will be a source that not only offers tips on word usage and style but also defines the limitless topic choices in nonfiction writing. My students will learn that their creative style has a place in the nonfiction world. My student will learn that good nonfiction can be just as beautiful as fiction.
