I have chosen a variety of social-emotional learning books to address the many emotions my students may be feeling as a result of the pandemic-related experiences they've had over the last year and a half. I have also chosen books that explain the ways we are trying to stay safe and keep others safe as the pandemic continues. Books are windows to the world, showing us that we are not alone in our experiences or emotions. Young children often cannot verbalize their emotions or fully understand them. It is my hope that my students might see themselves in these stories and better understand themselves and the things that are happening around them. After the books are shared children will be encouraged to share how the book spoke to them either verbally, in writing, or through another form of expression such as art.
