My scholars do not have the opportunity to explore the arts due to a lack of supplies. We would love to paint, build, and create! These materials will provide scholars with an abundance of resources in order to explore and learn. Supplies that will be specifically used for the art project will be the ink pads, the design rollers, the painting dots, craft sticks, paint, and messy mats. They will create an art exhibit that will showcase their artwork. Many of the scholars will use mixed media materials to mimic her artwork. Their lives will change significantly because the classroom will become a much more welcoming, warm and nurturing environment. Scholars would also benefit from having a chance to stories on tapes or CDs to enhance their literacy skills and foster a love of learning. The listening center will be used to play stories about famous artists, specifically Georgia O'Keeffe. Scholars will also look at still life paintings of Georgia O'Keeffe and use magna tiles to try and build three-dimensional flowers. Scholars in our classroom would greatly benefit from sensory play. We currently do not have many sensory items for them to explore and utilize. I am hoping that the sand, magic marbles, and sensory shapes will help scholars to relax during difficult times.
