Students need to engage in creationary work. Education is not only learning about the past, but using our history to inspire, design, and create new projects. This desire in utilizing the 3D printer is to have students learn engineering skills, design skills, and operate current technology to see their project through to a creation they can take home. Web 2.0 is about giving back ideas to share with the world. Having students design will allow them to engage their creations with the world. I want to engage my students by having them design small objects - like key chains or other individually designed projects, through online programs like Tinkercad. They will be able to understand the design process, create their object, make changes, and then print a final product.
