We will use the Chromebooks to increase student engagement and bring history to life. My students ask wonderful questions and their natural curiosity leads us to research additional topics and further inquiry. We also work on our literacy skills in the social studies classroom. I would like to work on written critical thinking assignments using research to support the students' claims. Also, being able to write and publish digitally will allow them to have a voice. Having Chromebooks in the classroom will support and increase student learning.
My students were born in the digital age, but they don't have access to technology outside the classroom. This places them at a disadvantage in preparing them for their futures. All too often, social studies classrooms are left out when districts order books, supplies, technology, etc. In my opinion, the social studies classroom is where a student learns not only about humanity, but literacy, math and science as well.
Please help me develop my students' critical thinking skills and prepare them for the future.
