My students have surpassed the things that I've developed for them in our center time. Their sponge-like brains need more learning materials. I can't keep up! It's exhausting and yet exhilarating. I'm excited to have such a great group of young children with such an appetite for learning. My biggest fear as a teacher is that I will not teach my students as much as I know they can learn. Your donation will help me to continue giving my students the tools they need to succeed. My plan is to expand my students reading and math knowledge and begin the new year with new centers. The Lakeshore Learning Math Center set I'm requesting includes a complete set of all 8 centers, each with a guide. With this the students will develop skills in base 10, fractions, problem-solving, elapsed time, number sense, algebraic thinking, beginning multiplication, comparing numbers, and addition/subtraction strategies. As far as reading goes, my plan is to continue strengthening the concepts we have learned and master vocabulary at a higher level. The Lakeshore Learning Comprehension Concept Center set develops skills in reading literature, reading informational text, cause & effect, compare & contrast, key ideas & details, text features, making inferences, author's purpose, main idea, and context clues.
