In an effort to help all my students engage in higher order learning and rigorous teaching, I am asking for 3 Chromebooks and a teacher pack of 10 TI-84 plus silver edition CE calculators. I want to create a technology based math classroom for my students. I teach Algebra 1 Honors, Geometry Honors, Algebra 2 Honors, Advanced Algebra & Trigonometry, Pre-Calculus, ACT Prep, and Algebra 1 to a wide range of students. I have freshman, sophomores, juniors, and seniors in my classroom. My goal is to engage my students in the highest level of learning. This technology will allow me to be able to show my students 3D color images in geometry on their calculators. It will also help my students engage in ACT Prep tests that are online that will aid them in getting scholarships. In Algebra 1, Algebra 2, and Geometry which are high stakes testing subjects, it will give the students opportunities to engage in rigorous online testing that increases their knowledge. New rigorous testing in TN on the TN Ready EOC exam has increased the need of technology in my classroom. My students need to be able to access this technology to be able to be successful on high stakes tests. In addition, this makes me as a teacher wanting to be able to give my students daily opportunities with online platforms of testing to increase students knowledge and engage them in higher order thinking.
