English Learners will create vivid imagery and colorful presentations in sharing their Writer's Workshop personal narratives and memoirs. K-5 students will have the opportunity to participate in their first Virtual Artists Residency with a Hmong-American author, Kao Kalia Yang. The author has written several children's book that reflect her childhood experiences growing up in the local community. English Learners will apply the language functions of Retell, Explain, Argue, and Discuss as they explore her books. Through Google Meet, students will share and present their writing responses using colorful visuals as language supports.
