My First Grade students are so eager to learn after two years of non-conventional learning during COVID. They need some foundational skills and yet are ready to soar to higher levels with the guidance of sound teaching techniques. Their curiosity is evident by their smiles and willingness to practice the concepts we cover daily. Many students come from homes with scarcity or basic means. They arrive early to school and rarely miss a day due to their enthusiasm to learn. There are many Spanish native speakers which enriches our learning time together. We bring so much realism into our classroom that students are experiencing new skills through all of their senses. Additionally, this group asks great questions and maintains a high level of engagement. We are frequently discussing their growth and students are able to self-assess where they need to put forth more effort and where they have already mastered skills.
