Practically all school districts are adopting technology at a very fast pace, which, unfortunately, leaves many impoverished and rural school districts grossly behind the digital divide. Today's society depends on technology in both the private and public sectors. There is no denying that without exposure to technology, students will be unable to function at an adequate level in the workforce. Furthermore, students who are not exposed to technology early on in their educational careers will miss out on opportunities that their peers from other school districts are given. Cursive and printed writing is practically nonexistent in the workforce, which is why it is imperative that our students are given constant and consistent training with keyboarding skills - especially those students who have practically no access to technology at home. Scheduling, digital correspondence, multimedia, and online collaboration are the norms in society. With Chromebooks, students will conduct research using vast databases and other sources of digital materials that simply cannot be found in today's school libraries. Students will use Chromebooks to collaborate on projects with fellow students even with peers from other school districts. By using Chromebooks in the classroom, students will unlock their unfettered creativeness as they type out prose, papers, and build multimedia presentations like never before. Students with learning disabilities or who might have trouble with socializing will benefit greatly through the use of the Chromebooks built-in spell checker and grammar tools for communicating with teachers and peers; some of those students who struggle with communicating, either verbally or through writing, will finally have their voices heard!
