They are especially excited and intrigued by math and like to call themselves the 'Math Masters.' They have even set a goal of 85% mastery of each state standard. We've also identified the ways in which math is needed in many different careers because they're already thinking about what they want to be when they grow up! Currently, they're doing well with mastering the state standards, even surpassing their goal. When I take a more critical look however, I believe that their comprehension of how math is really applied is lacking. Therefore, I feel an incredible need to make math activities more applicable and engaging in order to take their comprehension to the next level.
