Picture books are an amazing way to connect with students. Often times these books can be a way to bring attention to difficult topics and perspectives that so many don't hear or see. My students need good, quality, picture books that include a range of races, genders, and cultures. It is important that they hear stories from kids that look like themselves and don't look like themselves. These picture books will be used throughout the school year, especially for #classroombookaday, where we read a picture book every day. With this time and these books, my students will have to the opportunity to experience and grow as readers together.
