These materials will help my students engage with learning during distance learning AND over the summer. I am requesting funding for some of their favorite materials that we use daily in the classroom, for them to be able to have for at home learning. The geo-boards will help the children gain experience with fractions and geometry (two of the hardest topics in early math education). For example They can use them to create different types of polygons to demonstrate their understanding of vocabulary in a math lesson. They can then separate those shapes into equal parts to help them practice fractions. The dry erase boards and markers, will help them engage in lessons and allow them to practice problems quickly. An example of this is during live video lessons they can quickly write their answers to a problem and flash them on their screen. The journals and foam play dough are meant to help them relieve stress by getting their feelings written or draw on paper, or squeezing the play dough to soothe them. My students love to draw. Having a small journal to keep their drawings or write a dairy could be very therapeutic over the summer.
