Many of our students lack background knowledge and need additional supports to help make the science come alive! Having technology available in my science classroom will help remove barriers to science education that the students may experience. During a fifth-grade unit study on habitats, students can use an iPad to watch live cameras to see a salmon's journey in action. Another example is of my third-grade students learning about structures of life. They can easily have access websites to see the transformation of a crayfish from egg to adulthood. With the help of this device, my students can actively engage in their knowledge construction and problem-solving skills as scholar scientist.
