Creating centers for guided reading and engaging them to work for 20 minutes is a challenge and oftentimes a struggle for students who would rather use chrome books at the Computer Center. These reading and writing materials will enhance, develop and strengthen students’ skills as they manipulate, engage and compose ideas in written form. Students whose phonics skills need improvement would be given the opportunity to learn sounds at their pace when they get to use the materials from Lakeshore’s Phonics Set at the Phonics Center while students whose word fluency is a struggle would surely enjoy working at the Word Work Center. Majority of my students find writing a big challenge; hence an engaging Writing Center would help them be more enthused toward the written form.
