Having a set of Sphero SPRK+ Robots will enhance our current technology curriculum by requiring students to apply knowledge from all classes (math, science, ELA, technology) to hands on objects. For example, one simple project can have students measuring distances, using protractors, understanding inertia, programming the robot, writing about their experience, and presenting it to the class. Since our average class size is twenty-five students, having only thirteen robots will require our students to work in pairs but it will push them to communicate and collaborate with one another. Working with these robots will force students to immerse themselves in the learning process and push themselves, and others, to think outside of the box. Our students have a hunger to learn more and apply what they know, one way to accomplish this goal is to provide more resources for imagination in the classroom. Learning should be one of the most exciting experiences in ones life! I want my students to continue to gain confidence and a love for learning. I am committed to creating a classroom where students can apply their knowledge and discover new things. With these additional robots our technology classroom will be a place where students can gain digital literacy, have opportunity to access things they may not have at home, and can create, imagine and explore.
