The students at Perkins have been introduced to music composition in a unique way at Perkins. Through technology, students have been able to write and produce their own music compositions, writing lyrics convincing others of why the topic they chose is important, and then composing and producing an original song. Ranging from anti-bullying to stopping domestic violence, an unexpected outcome from this project, for me, was how much emotion these young students put into their songs - some cried as they wrote their lyrics and examined their situations, some got angry at how people were going hungry, others became hopeful at how they could help. Herein is where we need your help. Due to various factors, the district iPads we used last year for this project will disappear. The students need your help in being able to continue to tell their stories. The students, and myself, appreciate any support you can provide.
