I teach 6th grade science and am the science department chairperson for my school. My school is an inner city school in which 81% of our kids are from low income families. Many come from single parent families as well increasing numbers of kids raised by grandparents. Many families also live in combined households with extended families. These kids do not have the same opportunities as most kids do.
