My students will benefit from flexible seating in my classroom. One option for flexible seating will be the Wobble Chairs. This will allow students to wiggle while they work! It is true that 1st Grade students, no matter their circumstances, are not designed to sit still all day. Honestly, this isn't ideal for adults either! It is my job, as their educator, to make sure I am providing a variety of strategies to meet ALL students' needs. In order to help kids “get their wiggles out” while learning, they need a wobble chair. These chairs will allow the students in my class, year after year, to have access to this unique chair while working in their classroom. There is new research that helps teachers understand more effective ways to teach now that we better understand how the brain works. Research shows that it is crucial to provide movement throughout the day. Marcia Tate, a respected educational consultant, focuses on Brain-Based Learning. She stresses the importance of engaged and active learning in the classroom. This includes frequent movement opportunities for students in order to help their brains stay engaged. Wobble chairs will impact student learning for all students. My students will benefit from this extra movement in all content areas!
