Currently our Art, Technique and Culture class has no technology at all. I believe that to keep my students engaged and up to date on not only the history of art, but techniques used around the world, we need technology. In this day and age, students connect with technology in a way that helps stimulate creative thought. Technology is important in ART because it allows for students to visit unknown places and explore the paths of art history while providing a brain-stimulating experience. If we had a projector and screen we would be able to study together an array of different things like watching a technique on how to grout tile for mosaic art or studying endangered animals from around the world. To be able to SEE a lion's walk through the jungle so that we can study drawing animal muscles or to be able to study the culture of the Lakota people through historical art slide shows that could be created with the tablets I listed. If we had tablets, we would be able to take art to the next level with digital techniques. I could imagine my student creating their own artistic classroom blog, or art class newspaper. In thinking about equity for all students, I believe that having not only the kinetic and tactile art lessons but the exploration through video and sound will ultimately lead to my students success.
