My project will make Samsung Tablets accessible on a daily basis to at risk first graders in Reading and Math. First Graders will use innovative and engaging apps in Response to Intervention (RTI) and small group instruction. These Tablets will be utilized to help students below grade level achieve benchmark status. With the Tablets, students in RTI will engage in grade level educational games and activities that are individualized for differentiated instruction. The Chromebook will used by the teacher during RTI and small group instruction. It will also be used by students with low small motor skills. The technology component using Tablets in RTI provides immediate feedback that keep students engaged with enthusiasm, but with the rigor necessary for today’s educational demands. Students can either partner with another student working on the same skill, or work on a different set of skills using another iPad and a different app, depending on the student’s need. This purposeful technology integration will close the educational gap, and cultivate untapped learning potential. Meeting students learning needs in the 21st century include technology support in the classroom. Currently, there are very few tablets in our school. RTI small group instruction in early grades is proven to close achievement gaps and help students reach grade-level status. Adding this technology component to our RTI small group instruction will help students reach grade-level status in Reading and Math. Innovative reading applications, in conjunction with high quality instruction, will enhance and differentiate learning. Tablets provide enthusiasm, innovation, and engagement that will provide at risk students with tools they need to achieve!
