My twenty-four first graders have a set of 15 iPads to share. We use them to record our thinking. Confidence is built by even the quietest students. Sharing their reasoning with their own iPad is far less daunting than speaking in front of their peers. Doodle apps show their math problem solving. Voice recordings plan their stories. Videos add extra emphasis to their published work. As you can imagine, all this thinking makes for a noisy classroom. Having sturdy earbuds with built in microphones would allow more privacy and concentration. We will be so eager to listen to each other's thinking!
