This class set of the book Wonder will provide my students with the opportunity to explore a fictional, yet, powerful story. The story of Auggie Pullman is one of kindness and bravery. A book about a fifth grade student facing adversity will be much more intriguing for my students than the texts provided in our textbooks. Students need the opportunity to engage in effective dialogue with their classmates. Having a common text to read is one way of making this a reality. Students will be applying comprehension skills as well as writing throughout this text. They will be asked to do this both independently and cooperatively. My fifth graders will be laughing, crying and celebrating together in this shared book of Wonder.
