Imagine, preschoolers enjoying movement inside the classroom, just as they do outside, all the while developing tolerance of each child's special abilities! My students would be able to work on balance by climbing "rock" to "rock" through the variety of Gonge hilltops, riverstones, tactile discs, as well as balance pods. The preschoolers would be balancing with various balance boards like the Spooner board and the teeter popper board to keep them moving as they wait in like for the bathroom and for use in our SMART circuit. Students would be able to spin throughout sections of the circuit through the use of the Bilibo and Gonge top. The Bilibo provides a way for students to sit and spin while the Gonge provides a way for students to roll and spin. In addition, during circuit time, student would be working on strengthening their visual acuity through the "DK Follow the Trail" books. These books have various textures, colors, and pictures to guide the students' fingers along the pages from the left side to the right side, a precursor skill for reading. Students would also get to experiment with stilts and pogo jumping, both challenging activities for preschoolers. Students' abilities are varied so we would be working on tolerance of one another; accepting what they can do and encouraging them to continue trying. The supplies in this project would help me add variety to my SMART circuit in the classroom. The benefits are numerous for the preschoolers, not just in the prekindergarten year but beyond into further grades. My class would truly have fun while learning about tolerance.
