I teach in a low-income school district and we do not receive the funding we need to support the growth of technology in education. Due to budget restraints, we are unable to provide our students with the twenty-first century technology found in neighboring school districts. With a Smart TV, student engagement and interaction is maximized because it is capable of playing educational videos, audio recordings, and image streams. Providing a Smart TV for my students will bring language arts, math, science and social studies to life. It is also able to connect to the Internet and sites like Picassa, YouTube, and Discovery Education are easily accessible. A Smart TV would also allow me to download interactive games, word plays, quizzes and problems that promote classroom participation among students.
