Every student should see themselves in the books of their classroom library. This is a challenge in first grade, diversity in character is lacking in many easy reader books. I want to purchase easy readers that depict characters who also reflect the faces and hearts of the students in my classroom. While living readerly lives we are touched and influenced by the characters in the books we read - help my students see and learn tolerance for all through children's literature at levels that are appropriate for them. Becoming readers and leaders is a huge focus of our classroom, we would so appreciate your help with this!
