Students will deepen their understanding of Geometric concepts in a fun way by being able to manipulate and build with the Magna-Tiles and Geometry kits. Using the manipulatives helps learning move from the abstract to the concrete. Students will use the building materials to gain hands-on understanding of the measurable attributes of real-world and mathematical objects. In my class the students are encouraged to take on a leadership role by sharing their knowledge and understanding with their peers. This enhances the learning environment of our classroom. They will work with partners and in small groups to explore and identify symmetry, identify shapes and their attributes and solve for area and perimeter.
