My students will use the tables and chairs for group work and cooperative learning. Currently, I have a classroom full of old, broken, and mismatched desks. That creates problems for learning centers. The desks do not fit together, and my students have trouble getting in and out of their seats while in groups. Research shows that, within the classroom, group learning serves to strengthen their reading, oral language, vocabulary, phonics, and math skills. The students will work independently or in groups at their new tables, depending on the individualized need of the students. Table seating will allow group collaboration projects and research with our classroom Chromebooks to function in a more effective way. My students enjoy opportunities to work with their peers, and tables would allow for more hands-on materials to be utilized. My students also enjoy opportunities to engage in projects that require the space that table seating can offer.
