The Spanish classroom is a place where every learner in our school comes to learn about Spanish language and culture. We are constantly exploring many aspects of the language as well as of the people and places in which this language thrives. We currently gather for our circle time on a former kindergarten rug, which has the alphabet in English. While this is a lovely rug, and will always be put to good use, having a rug that reinforces what we are learning in Spanish would benefit the entire community. A Spanish-language rug sends a clear message to students: what we are learning, and who we are, is not only important but essential in creating life-long learners and global citizens.
